Just xxx out all except the first six characters of your serial number, if it happens to include your serial number in the output. |

Here's the output from my K5 (Touch):

PW2: Spoiler:
I've attached a KUAL extension which dumps the output to a text file in documents. Just extract the zip to the extensions folder. KUAL > Helper > List Hardware Last edited by JimmyR; 11-09-2016 at 07:07 PM. |

Just a question from a complete Kindle modding noob, but where am I supposed to put this? In the extensions/kterm folder? /bin? /usr/bin? I haven't found anyone really explaining it yet. I do have some self-made scripts in /usr/bin on my desktop, but I'm a little bit unsure and somewhat afraid to muck things up with my Kindle.

you can put JimmyR's extension in the kual extensions folder (like other kual extensions) or you can put my executable file in any writable folder (like /mnt/us/), open kterm, cd to the folder, and type ./lshw

Alright. So none of you are actually adding shell programs to /bin or /usr/bin or some place like that?

It would either brick the Kindle on the next update or all disapear on the next update. Plus, there isn't enough room in those hardware partitions to do anything useful (unless creating bricks is useful to you). For a worked example, take a look at all of the programs included with the USBnetworking package. Alternate shell? You have zsh included with the USBnetworking package.
