I seem to have "lost" Calibre
Embarrassing to admit.
Basically, when I start calibre, I get the word "Calibre" in the task bar, but no application. Preferences does show in the menu, but nothing happens when I select it. I was trying to add some new icons, made some changes to some files and...bad things have happened. I'm sorry I don't remember the files I edited (it was just before xmas and this is my first time back) but it was based on the post in this forum somewhere about customising icons. Obviously, I haven't followed instructions somehow. Woe. I'm thinking uninstall Calibre and re-install and re-load my library. Is this a good thing or bad thing to try? With 3000+ titles, I'm a bit nervous. Mac 10.10 Calibre 2.12 ish (I'm not sure). |

Not being sure of what you did, my first suggestion would be to trash the old copy of Calibre from the Applications folder. After that, download a fresh copy and install it. Your settings and library should be unaffected.
If that doesn't work, remove the ~/Library/Preferences/calibre folder. You will lose some of your settings, but your library will be unharmed (once you tell calibre where it is). |

Okay, it's back.
Just in case anyone needs to do the same thing, I discovered that I had to uninstall Calibre using my CleanMyMac app, rather than a simple uninstall (which apparently doesn't clean up properly). Phew. Thanks again for the help. |
