I noticed somthint a little odd when using Georia font: that some numbers extend below the line ( = serif?) and some done so out of 123456789 1268 are postioned higher & appear smaller than 34579 At first I thought this was a Kobo implementation thing, but checking the same string in MS word with Georgia selected see the same effect. So is their some subtle rationale for why the font is deigned like that ? not that I've noticed it is bugging me, because it happens with the page xx of yy bit of the footer as well as with typical chapter numbers I could read in another font & have it vanish, but I've gotten used to using Georgia I was told a whil back that document default was similar to georgia for an epub with no font family definitions in CSs, but default font does not have this numbers quirk |

http://www.sitepoint.com/principles-...ul-typography/ Perhaps I shouldn't get started on typography. It's been suggested that I tend to get very boring on the topic. (shrug) Regards, David Last edited by DNSB; 04-25-2014 at 03:02 PM.

Georgia has "lower case" numerals. They look okay when they appear in the middle of a sentence such as "I am 23 years old." But they look horrible when they appear where you would expect upper case such as "CHAPTER 23". Edit: Does anyone know of a font the same as Georgia but without these numerals? if I switch font to docment default, the ones in the kepub footer look better ( though the whole footer seems a bit larger) but the one in Chapter "3 are still "georgia style"

From what I can tell, if you select a font, it is also used for the page footer. If you select document default, it uses a non-serif font. It is probably Gothic, but, I am not sure.

Georgia is transitional or baroque serif typeface. It borrowed a lot of features from other typefaces. Fontology: Oldstyle Figures Wikipedia Georgia typeface Text figures (numerals)
