iTunes connect to publish

1) Can I use Calibre to upload an ePub manuscript to Itunes for the purposes of publishing it? (I can't believe Apple is so conceited that you have to use an Apple computer to directly upload).

2) If so, how do I connect to iTunes (an hour and a half of searching, reading, experimenting is enough ... I read the guides and other threads, I just don't get this).

3) Perhaps the problem associated connecting to iTunes is that I can't get the Calibre server started (I/O error 8080 is not free).

I'll take any and all help on this.
