Got a good 1 star review on B&N

I'm thinking of using it as a front cover blurb: "GROSS AND LOW CLASS — Barnes & Noble review"

Any problems with that on Amazon, etc? Would it matter if I used it on a different book? My next one is a lot more gross and low class than the one that generated that review.

Well, it wasn't a book review but I got a comment on my recent poem (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...postcount=1184) not here, but on a different forum:

"...... I find it rather insipid and insubstantial.
On a personal note, I loathe poetry that ends on a question."



I'm thinking you could certainly use it as a blurb.

Poorly Written and Offensive.

Setting: a Christian camp for kids as young as 12 focusing on teaching abstinence, but also distributing condoms and diaphragms- who would send their child to that camp?

On TV that kind of rating would get a big viewership and the actors would all get over a $million per half hour episode.

You could attribute it to 'Anonymous' instead of a B&N review. I think it actually sounds edgier that way.

Isn't it good to discover the book came across as you intended.

As for using it against a different book - the big publishers do it all the time. From the same great quote splashed across multiple books, to "Praise for the author" headings inside that list accolades spanning previous novels.

If, as has been suggested, you get rid of the Barnes and Noble bit, and replace it "Anonymous", then that should avoid any issues with Amazon, and it reduces the suggestion that the comment is specifically a review of the particular book - they might be talking about the author .

Actually I was thinking about this. I think you do NOT want to phrase it that way because it almost sounds like B&N wrote the review instead of the review being on B&N.

I was thinking more in terms of legitimacy, if it was anonymous people might think I just made it up.

You could try something like "A Reviewer" - leaving people wondering if it was Mr Andrew Reviewer, Mrs Alice Reviewer, the Alexandria Reviewer magazine, an anonymous reviewer, or merely "a reviewer". I know that, when I see a quote from "Sunday Express" (or an equivalent) I wonder just how many publications that might cover - and given the way some people name their kids these days, it might even be a person.

My short story got one review with no rating. The review was something along the lines of: "didn't get very far, too much rambling" the downloads went up the same day it was reviewed. As long as people read what I have written, that's the main thing, if they enjoy that is great.
