Some of the sections in C-11 are useful, but I'm against any that try to constrain Internet access or foster perpetual corporate copyrights by enshrining DRM. |

It was trending for a few blinks on Twitter, but didn't have the longevity or excitement or passion that say, Tim Hortons announcing their 20 oz double doubles :P Oooh new cup sizes, wow, but not many people getting downright angry about rights getting ripped out from under them

http://www.youtube.com/user/khanacademy http://www.youtube.com/user/tedtalksdirector http://www.youtube.com/user/ComputerHistory Erm, I must have copied the wrong list there. ![]() I never even realized that YouTube had pirated music and video until a friend showed me a year ago. I figured that it was a bunch of crazy stuff with a few gems mixed in. That being said, I do believe that websites should be classified and certain types of website should be held accountable for their content. For example: Google the search engine is an entirely different beast from YouTube, and both are entirely different beasts from Gmail. The search engine has no control over what it is indexing. Email is a means of private correspondence. But YouTube, that's a publishing/broadcasting medium. It's kinda like a newspaper reprinting a book without authorization or a television station broadcasting a movie without acquiring the rights to do so. The only real reason why they get away with it is because of a historical holdover, and they have no desire to fix the problem because accountability costs money. |

The Liberal party has a petition on line asking people to support the Liberal amendment on Bill C-11 to protect user rights against unfair digital locks by allowing digital locks to be broken for copyright materials used for non-infringing purposes (https://petition.liberal.ca/user-rig...digital-locks/)

There is no fog if you read a good daily newspaper. You cannot clandestinely pass a law either in Washington or Ottawa. I don't know about your web site, but downloadable books on MobileRead.com are in the Canadian public domain. So MR is not threatened by this. I think the concern is over hints about circumvention tools, which seem to be tolerated here even though direct references to such tools are not.
