New user - help with connecting to ADE

Just bought the PE from Woot! Love it so far, but can't get connected to my computer (running XP) and so can't access ADE. I found some info on the forum connecting with Windows 7, so I tried with my Windows 7 netbook. Still won't let me access ADE. ADE help states ADE will find the device and automatically ask to register the device, but this did not happen.

I downloaded a book from library. I can transfer the book to the PE via thumb drive but when I try to open it - it gives me an error "this document is licensed to another user". I am inferring that the license doesn't transfer unless downloaded from ADE... but I can't connect. Thus the problem...
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

When you connectthe PE to a PC use the small usb port. Pull down the notification bar and select mount, windows will then see the PE.

Thanks! Had not found the mount function yet. Now they see each other. ADE registered the device and it looks like the book transferred, but now when I try to open the book, it says the file could not be found....

and now the edge user guide is gone from my library (it all shows up on my computer ADE under the edge bookshelf)

Hi LuluBelle!

Did you look for your book in the "download" file? You can see it under "Storage" in the pulldown menu at the top left of the Library screen. I don't know why ADE would remove the User Guide . . . .

Thanks for the help!

When I go under storage, there is nothing there but the internal storage, the usb does not show up even though I am connected to the computer with ADE up and seeing the edge.
I have the micro USB in the edge and the USB in the computer, does it make a difference?

Update - the missing piece!!! When I unmount the USB and then go into internal storage, it shows up!
I got the help guide back by moving it to my the bookshelf on my computer in ADE and then moving it back onto the edge. Then it showed up in my internal storage so I could download.
Seems like a lot of steps to get the books....

That happened to me too. Open library, check international storage. There should be an ADE listed there as well as downloads and other things. Tap Digital Editions, click the book, add files to library. Enjoy.
