Pocket Edge finally arrived!
The Pocket Edge I ordered from Woot finally arrive this afternoon. I started to charge it and registered it. It took about 10 minutes before it told me that there was an update. It downloaded something but never did anything with it. This was repeated about 4 times with no success. So, I went to the Ermine 2.2 download - renamed it and put it on a FAT formatted thumb drive. This update worked perfectly.
I'm very pleasantly surprised at the speed of the device. It's not quite as fast as either of my iPads, but still very satisfactory. One of the first things I did was see if it would sync up with Calibre ver.8.8 - no Problem! The speed that 2 books in ePub format uploaded to the Edge was amazing. The E-ink screen is very readable, but a little dim in low light. Is there any way to bring up the brightness? I'm going to wait until it's fully charged before I play further - but again - a very nice piece of gear. I noticed that there is a further upgrade to Ermine - has this newer version been vetted in any way? |

syclone, that's a test build by a forum member to try to get market working. Get it if you want to test for stability, otherwise I'd stay on ermine 0.9. Also, get a hold of the golden update (Dingo) for PE in case something bad happens and you need to recover.

Glad you got it and got it going, Syclone!
![]() There is no way to brighten the e-ink, but you can get a USB light to use with your PE. Or any kind of light beside it. ![]() In case you don't already know: You can read books that are not in your library (I think Calibre puts them in your downloads file), but if you want to attach notes or websites to your books or navigate using the table of contents you will have to add the books to your library. This is easy to do after the book is opened by the Reader. Just tap the icon at the top of the page that looks like books with a plus in front and you're done! ![]() Have fun! ![]() |

Another thing you might find interesting for reading epub and other books on the LCD side is CoolReader3 http://sourceforge.net/projects/cren...s/CoolReader3/
