Books containing "<code>"
Hi all,
I am mostly reading a technical books containing graphs, screenshots and parts of a source code. Some of them are in pdf and I must say that reading a pdf on my kindle is really unpleasant experience. I have been trying to convert these books to mobi using calibre and I tried all possible settings trying to get as good result as possible - which means - not to loose the source code formating... The problem I have is that I start to think that its nearly impossible :-( Does anybody know how to get a good mobi from a technical pdf? Is it even possible? Anyone knows how to keep formating of <code> or <pre>-like parts of text when converting from the pdf? Thanks for any help... |

PDF is a "terminal" format; it will rarely convert cleanly to another format, especially if the layout is complex. Using an OCR program is often the best choice.

Thanks for replay..
Yes - the pdf is a piece of unconvertible and unformatted crap :-( I tried ocr like ABBY but the result was not as good as I expected even the pdf was in great resolution and the text was clearly readable. Is there any other good ocr? |

My only suggestion would be to approach the publisher and ask if the book is available in Mobi format rather than PDF.
