Yes, it's about 10,000 words. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. He just released a full novel this month at Smashwords but it's not a sequel.

Hi there;

I'm the one who actually wrote the story, so thanks for the listing.

Yup, its a short story of 10K words - and the first attempt at a gunpowder fantasy short story. The novel fbone mentioned (Tears of the Mountain), and another free short story (Gifts and Sacrifices, of 15K words) share the same main character and setting, but are spread over a 30 year period so aren't sequels. I like to think of them as being introductions to the setting that is being flesh out by other stories on the way.
