ePub >> ibis reader >> no cover
When I upload my epub files to ibis reader, on first opening, the cover does not initially appear. A small graphic icon appears in the covers place. By clicking on the Title, the cover appears.
Am I formatting something incorrectly? I use Sigil to create my ePubs and follow its instructions for adding covers. Thanks for your insights. - Fabe |

We were actually just discussing this issue yesterday and I hope we'll be able to find a fix soon.

Does it show correctly in ADE? If it does, then it's just Ibis.

You could also try Lucidor, from www.lucidor.org which I'm just starting to use. I haven't found anything strange yet, and it's nice to have another alternative.

I'll wait for Lucidor to become a full-fledged app. - Fabe |

So in 3/4 engines, it works. Hence, Ibis bug. Lucidor would add no new data, since if it needs XULRunner, it uses Gecko too. |

Valloric - Here are two "cover" lines of code taken from their epub files as viewed in Sigil. The first is from a file not created using Sigil. The cover appears as soon as the file is opened in Ibis Reader. The second line of code is mine. I created it following the directions in the Sigil user manual. My cover appears fine, except Ibis Reader does not recognize it when first opened.
Can you tell anything by looking at these two lines? Thanks - Fabe <body> <div class="sgc-2"><img alt="Cover" class="sgc-1" src="../Images/cover.png" /></div> </body> <body> <h1 id="heading_id_2"><span class="sgc-1"><img alt="" src="../Images/Going%20for%20Refuge.jpg" /></span></h1> </body> |

I can tell you that Ibis reader is probably not smart enough to decode URLs properly. Percent encoding is probably throwing it off.

We've made some changes to the way images are handled that we're hoping has improved this. Please let us know if it's still a problem.

Valloric - You are right, %20s do throw Ibis off. I always swap them out for spaces before I upload to Ibis. Liza & Keith - I see thumbnail covers on Ibis with my book list now. That's very nice. However, I just uploaded a new book and the same thing happened: no cover initially. Please see my post above showing my cover entry and one I downloaded from Feedbooks, which does load properly. Thank you all - Fabe |
