Excellent Kids Novel Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes

If you are looking for a great read for your 8-12 year old or so (depending on reading level). May I recommend a book that is not getting a lot of press but is very much worth the money. Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes by Jonathan Auxier (EPub, Kindle version coming soon according to the author). Peter Nimble is an old school kid's adventure novel in the vein of Roald Dahl, and C.S. Lewis with a good dash of the wittiness and amazing word play and turn of phrase of G.K. Chesterton. I read a lot of children's books for work (I'm a kids employee in a book store) and this is by far one of the best I have run across recently. In short the story follows the adventures of Peter Nimble, the world's greatest thief, an orphan boy found floating in a boat with his eyes pecked out by a raven. His life changes drastically when he steals from a haberdasher (yes that's right he uses the word haberdasher in a children's novel that's how awesome he is) a box containing three sets of fantastic eyes, soon he is swept away on an adventure of epic proportions and at his side as his loyal companion you may ask why there is Sir Tode a knight cursed by a hag and turned into a small amalgamation of the knight, his horse, and a cat he was having an argument with when he angered the hag. I'm 30 and this book had me chuckling and staying up late to read just one more chapter and and I think it would have had even more of an effect on 11 year old me. Try it for yourself or your children you won't regret it.
