Just tried converting a Korean book...
I was excited to see that the Kindle 3 can display Korean (even though the font is awful). I'm hoping to get one soon, but for now I just have Kindle for PC on my computer.
So, I got a Korean book in epub format. It was showing up fine in Adobe DE. Then I used Calibre to convert it to mobi. When I bring it up in Kindle for PC all the Korean just shows as squares. Is this likely a Calibre problem or a Kindle for PC problem? Do you think my book will work on a Kindle 3? |

You will need to specify to Calibre the character encoding method to be used if the book does not specify it explicitly. You will also have to make sure that any fonts specified exist on the reader.

Is that the input profile? If so, is there a way to figure out which one it is, and if it's not the input profile, what else do I look at?

Okay, I found the "input character encoding" field. How do I figure out what to enter?

epub has to be UTF-8 per it's specification. You can try entering that, but I'm pretty certain Calibre already assumes that, so the problem is probably a bug...

that's most probably a kindle for pc bug. You should test your file on an actual kindle 3
