I was given a Kindle. Need Help

My father gave me his Kindle after he got a new reader I signed up at Amazon and got an account with my name and email but when i went to have the books he had on the transfered to my reader for my PC nothing happend how do I get the books on the Kindle to move over to my PC?

You can't unless you're all using the same account and in that case, you'd retrieve the items from the Archive which downloads it from Amazon. Each item from the Amazon store is individually locked to that specific reader e.g. Kindle or Kindle for PC. You can't copy a protected item off the Kindle onto your PC.

What Tiersten said. You could put your Kindle back on your Dad's account temporarily when you want to read books he has.
