Amazon - Earths most customer centric company - in action!
We all know Amazon like to think they are the worlds most customer centric company (we may think differently now), I saw it in action today -
I have CCTV at home and the side camera covers not only our property but with our neighbours consent it also covers their front door. Well they had an Amazon delivery today and I just so happened to be checking our CCTV (looking for the cat) when Amazon delivered two parcels for them, one in a paper bag, one in a box, the delivery driver chucks the paper bag down first, kicks it to the side, chucks the box on top, then kicks both of them to the side a bit more, rings the doorbell and walks off. Now I don't know what was delivered but I did see our neighbour shaking the box. Well done Amazon, well done, that's some first class customer service! I don't actually blame the driver as much as Amazon because I've heard (like most of us) how bad Amazon is to work for and what sort of pressure their employees are under. The question is how long can a company carry on like this before it implodes? Or is it just too big for that now? What do you all think? |

In my neck of the woods, UPS and FedEx treat packages much worse than Amazon. Amazon reads my signs and places packages inside on the porch. UPS and FedEx walk up from the road and lob packages over the railing of my deck from about 5 feet away. Or toss it in a snow drift by the mailbox down the road.
I blame the drivers exclusively. No matter who they work for, there's no excuse for shoddy performance. Do your job right for you. Last edited by DiapDealer; 02-28-2025 at 06:26 PM. |

Agreed, it's the driver that matters, not the company they work for.

If the company treats the drivers like crap, that will flow downhill to the customers. There are some drivers who should never have been hired but I've seen too many people hired and ruined by lousy management.
One company that one friend of mine worked for was a fine example. In 2023, the company did well enough that it gave each of the executives about 25% of their annual salary as year end bonuses. The staff? Well, they got a free banana per staff member per day in the staff cafeteria for the Monday-Friday before the 4 day Christmas break. For some strange reason in 2024, they lost about 45% of their staff by the end of summer. |

I don't disagree that some employees are treated badly by their employers. But that doesn't give them justification for kicking that particular can down the road. Work ethic is work ethic. If you (rhetorical) have a bad one, that's on you. 100 percent. Millions of employees with terrible employers manage to perform their jobs admirably every day.

I ordered something for my 94 year old mother, so be delivered to her apartment, which is in a secure building. The small package was left on the ground, on the outside of building door that leads to the common hallway.
That door is very heavy, and locks automatically when closed, so you need a key if you're outside. I was able to call a neighbor of hers, who got the package and knocked on her door to get it to her. She would not have been able to get the package herself without danger of falling as the step at that door is rather deep. It's a good thing I don't order for her often. Amazon drivers must not have access to the inside of the secure buildings. Mail and UPS are able to get inside. |

There is a mailroom here too, where USPS leaves mail and packages. Those boxes have to be picked up 9-4 from a desk person. That's more awkward, if you keep weird hours. The amazon delivery is really good. |

I will weigh in. Everyone has different experiences. I live in Kentucky. I have used Amazon Prime for at least 15 years. (or a long time...) Most of the Amazon deliveries used to be from UPS. Then UPS handing off to USPS. Then mostly, USPS. Now, there is a local Amazon Distribution center near us, so we get Amazon drivers.
Amazon deliveries have almost always been on time, and if not, it was delays from USPS. All deliveries have been made to my front porch (which sets well off the road), unless by USPS and it can fit in mail box. In my area, UPS is the most dependable, then FEDEX, then USPS. Amazon delivery is still new here. Thankfully, ALL carriers have taken care to place on porch, out of weather, and no mis-handling of packages. Just wanted to give a different take. Wish everyone got better service. |
