Free JA Konrath novel

I followed a link to JA Konrath's webpage (given in another thread on this forum) and he has the book "Whiskey Sour" (also labeled as Jack Daniels #1) available in PDF format for free. Looking forward to reading this!

Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels is having a VERY bad week...

Jack's live-in boyfriend has left her for his personal trainer, chronic insomnia has maxed out her credit cards with late-night home shopping purchases, and a frightening killer who calls himself "The Gingerbread Man" is dumping mutilated bodies in her district.

Between avoiding the FBI and their moronic profiling computer, joining a dating service, mixing it up with street thugs, and parrying the advances of an uncouth PI, Jack and her binge-eating partner Herb must catch the maniac before he kills again...and Jack is next on his murder list.

I've read the first couple of this series and they are pretty good. It makes a nice change for the police detective to be female. There's a sense of humor running through the stories though the murder descriptions can be a little gruesome at times.

I missed the free version (bought it from amazon after reading author's name in an article about success with this new model of publishing). I got here cuz i searched on the title to tell the author that I like his puns! I'm not quite up to the halfway mark in "Whiskey Sour". Great book so far! One wonders if an author has to be as sick a puppy as his murderer, to come up with the stuff the bad guy does.

I don't know if it's still there or not, but on his blog he was giving away a collection of Jack Daniels short stories a few months ago. There is also Serial on Smashwords, co-written with Blake Crouch. The "uncut" version (not free) also features Jack Daniels.

Turns out I *did* already have Whiskey Sour, and the short stories. I never pass up a free book! But since they were in pdf format, I didn't find them when I looked. Also turns out the version for sale (actual $) on Amazon is better formatted than my mail-it-to-amazon conversion attempt, so I'm glad to support a good author!
