What do you mean by volume control? Are the volume buttons at the bottom of your Kindle not working?

Which buttons would those be?
KIndle 3 WiFi buttons along the bottom are, from left to right ... SHIFT (for upper cse alpha letters) ALT SPACE BAR "Aa" font choosing HOME BACK Wait a sec - you mean that bar at the bottom that controls the volume? YET ANOTHER BRADFORD "DUH!" MOMENT.
