Scanned = image.
So yeah, since the Kindle can display images.

You may also try an OCR software to try to convert it to text.

I think you will be very disappointed trying to read a double page scanned pdf on any 6 inch reader (per your question about the $139 Kindle Wi-Fi). If this type of document will be what you read the most, I would suggest you purchase a laptop or wait for some of the new tablets to be released. Looking at your sample on my 16 inch laptop was a bit of an effort.

Yeah OCR softwares are kinda unpredictable. They may or may not give accurate results.

The size of the text displayed on the screen depends on the size of the screen and the size of the image.

For instance, the Kindle DX (since that's what I own) can display 824x1200 pixels images. So if you try to read the scanned page you attached in your first post, the text will be small. But if you split the page in 2 (and in this case, resize it a little), it becomes readable (I've just tested it on mine).

EDIT: I've attached a 600x800 version for a Kindle 6" user to try too.

nelson:

I have a better solution; the scanned book is available in Kindle format from Amazon here.

Actually, an even better solution would be to not put any more money in Martin Pring's pocket and read The Quants for ten bucks. A much more useful read to clear up how markets really work, IMHO.

Plenty of people who aren't in the US buy from Amazon. This topic has been covered within many other threads - if you can't find any, let me know.

The OCR feature built into Acrobat Pro does a remarkably good job.

Larry

edit: It seems to work better than ABBYY Finereader, which was quite a surprise to me. However, to get your document into a non-PDF format, you'd have to select all text, copy, then paste into the application of your choice. The downside is that most of the formatting and all images would be lost, and tables would likely be a mess.

I can try Acrobat on a few pages of your document. Send me a PM if you'd like me to do that.
