My first post

Here is my initial attempt at a single ePub of all 13 Volumes (that's 201 stories!) of Constance Garnett's translation of Chekhov's short stories.

Taken from the Project Gutenberg originals.

Headings, etc. have been made consistent and CSS-style-able, some semantic markup added, ePub Table of Contents added (but not HTML - let me know if you are interested in this - nearly everything is auto-generated from semantic data, so it should be quite easy), and footnotes taken out-of-line and hyperlinked (forward and backwards).

New version: added "fancy" single and double quote marks. The single quotes were generated automatically with some manual sanity checking/ fixes; the double quotes are purely auto-generated.

(sigh) - should have tested this on my eReader itself, not just on fbreader

Use XML-escaped versions of the "fancy" single/double-quotes, and the "recommended" right-single-quote instead of the "fancy" apostrophe - the old single quotes/ apostrophes rendered wrongly on my PRS-350.

Removed the gazillions of superfluous line breaks; added a tiny extra bit of CSS styling.

Hopefully the last bit of tweaking:

- Fix inconsistent capitalisation of words at the beginning of each of the (201

) stories
- "Drop" the first letter of each story
- Don't indent paragraphs that follow e.g. subchapter headings, etc.

The entire set of stories can be found all in one page here (warning: it's a 5+MB xhtml file, so make sure you have plenty of RAM if you open it in your browser!) - please report any typos, missing formatting/ styling etc against this version!

This seems to be missing a stylesheet. I don't know if it's needed or not?

It was flagged by the Quality Check plugin:

Manifest file missing from: Tales of Chekhov / Chekhov, Anton
stylesheet1.css

If MrTeatime's not around, can anyone else tell me if this is a problem or not, please?

Oops - try this:

The correct stylesheet ("stylesheet.cs") seemed to be being used on my eReader at least, but I declared it in the .opf file with the wrong name.

There actually isn't any stylesheet at all in the epub in the OP (as far as I can see).
