AAAAHHHH! Stupid software!

I dont get it! The sony reader software is supposed to take me to the E-book store when I click on E-book store,
http://ebookstore.sony.com/

but instead all I get is Waterstones and WHSmiths ads, and Sony, thats it!

I've re-installed the software, gone thriu the settings, both the device and the PC are authorised for DRM, so what the hell is going on!!

Officially only US and Canadian residents can buy books from the Sony ebook store. If you are in the UK you will be directed to UK book sites.

To access US Sony store, you would a US address and credit card or gift vouchers. There is a setting in the software, I think, to change your country.

Ah right, so that means that the software is pretty much useless to me then! Good job I have Calibre!

You're in the UK... they're not just ads, they're the UK eBook stores that replace the Sony bookstore for the UK.

BTW - The different on-line bookstores is not a Sony thing, it is a publisher/distribution thing.

In the age of digital books, a publisher is about as necessary, as a fish needs a bicycle!

Robert is right, I am sooo frustrated by the publisher system. I want to read many ebooks that are only available in the UK and/or EU. One is William Trevor's collection of short stories--too thick to carry around as a pb. I can buy some of Trevor's ebooks in US, so I don't get it?????

Why... that image is a logo for Sony's ebook store... the UK (and other countries) has a different marketing model and Sony don't sell eBooks in these places... In the UK, Waterstones, Smiths etc sell the eBooks and are Sony's recommended/authorised sellers but they aren't Sony...

Hmm, its just that Waterstones have a deal with Sony-I would have expected to see that logo on their site is all.
