What to get....
OK I've been lurking a bit and now that I've narrowed down my criteria, I need your help to help me pick a device.
First, I am open to both e-ink and LCD type devices. Here are my requirements: 1. Screen size must be larger than 4 inches. I have a Dell Axim x50 (3.5 inches) and I need to upgrade the size, which is prompting this thread. 2. Must be able to read tagged PDF's. I love the reflow on the Adobe Reader for Pocket PC, so something similar to that would be ideal. My collection is 90% PDF. 3. Must be able to support Gutenberg texts. 4. Battery should last more than 4 hours. I can deal with charging it every so often. 5. Cost: no more than $300 Here are some guidelines: - I live in the US, travel abroad rarely - I buy books occasionally from FictionWise - I love to read at night, in the dark with no lights using a black screen and red letters (so the wife is not distrurbed) Is there a new (or old) device that would work for me? TIA! |

If you really need to read PDF, then the iLiad is the best bet at the largest screen size and highest resolution.

Well, not speaking for anyone else, but for me it's the fact that I have a very old archive of files that I have created before I knew about all of these other book formats. If I were starting fresh with ebooks I would be creating mobi or some newer format but PDF's have been around since the stone age of modern computing.
