Started Second eBook with OpenOffice
I have begun putting together my 2nd eBook. My first eBook was designed inside of InDesign. I had a lot of frustrations and it took several weeks before I was able to get a book that would pass epubcheck.
Now I started designing my second book with OpenOffice. So far everything works great. I have been testing as I go along. I save in the OO ODT extension. I then open Calibre and add meta data, add the cover and export to epub. Once I have exported to epub, I open up Sigil. I add heading 1 so I can make my TOC. Once I do that, I save and test. Come up no errors in Sigil or epubcheck and everything appears as it should on my iPad. This book is heavy on high quality photography. I've been saving pics for this book at 5 inches wide and 150 DPI. I think Nook is the only reader that can handle that high of DPI. My photos look great on the iPad. My only real question right now is how do I force a Page Break so my iPad can bring a new topic up to the start of a new page? I am guessing it has to be done with code in Sigil and that it can't be done in Open Office. ![]() All the help I've gotten has made me a lot more comfortable about starting a new book. I had a 30 day trial with InDesign. I am going to let it expire and not pay for the program. Thanks again, Stevej46 |

It's called LibreOffice now.
Instead of forcing a page break you could try creating a new chapter, maybe? I don't know, I haven't worked much with Sigil but I think this stuff should probably go in the ePub section. |

You need to add the "page-break-before:always" attribute to the CSS for whatever style you're using for your chapter headings.
