Trick question! You don't! Seriously, the Connect software gets author from the metadata - so you need metadata in a file to provide it... raw text doesn't have metadata. So you need to save it in a format that does - like PDF or RTF. If it doesn't require special reformatting, just open it in Wordpad, "save as" rtf, then make sure there's something like this near the top of the file:
{\info{\author Me}{\title Why Beer Is Tasty}} Wordpad doesn't write an info block by default, so cutting and pasting the above with the proper values should do it. I've never seen an RTF spec, so not sure if there's a placement requirement... I usually put it right after the {rtf block closes. |

The easiest solution is to load the file into "Word" and then save as RTF. Select the "File/Properties" menu item to enter the document title and author's name.
There's a very nice Word macro posted here by Stingo for nicely formatted a text file in Word - getting rid of the line breaks, changing to a decent sized font, etc. Well worth using. |

It certainly should appear. Works just fine for me! You've saved the file as RTF?

For a TXT file all the Reader will display is the file date as Author and the file name as title.
