JETBOOK LITE GOING BACK AGAIN
I am sending back the jetbook lite again for the second time. I whent to kmart and bought the book at 89.99. A 7" backlite color screen that just kills the jbl in my opion. Thank you all for all your help and great post. I read most all of them and they were a great help to me. I like the jetbook lite but this thing call the book is just more to my liking.

The only disadvantage this new puppy has compared to the jb/jbl is it's got a backlite so you can't see it that well in full sunshine.
There are already reports of people having trouble getting their wifi to work consistently. That said, without having my hands on one, I really can't see any advantage the jb/jbl has over this new puppy other than the backlit. |

HI: The advantages for me are a much bigger 7" screen. You would have to compair them side by side to see that the 7" is way bigger than the 5" screen. Also the backlite I have it on very low and its just great to read on anywhere in my house. I dont read outside in the sun. Also the auto rotation is just amazing to me. It auto rotates a full 360 degrees. So I think thats about 3 advantages so far that I use with this 89.99 book e book reader. I just got is a few hours ago so maby there are more of them I'll see. LOL. Oh the jbl has a gray or green sort of backgroung and this has a white one that makes the print very clead looking. Now in all fairness I liked the jbl and was happy with it but after getting this book reader Back goes the jbl. Now there may be a few flaws with the book reader like wifi but I dont care about that stuff. I dont care about pictures or music. I just would like to have a bigger screen over a 5" one and very clear readabilty with a back lite. But let me say that the JETBOOK LITE is a great e book reader and at a very fair price.

Added by edit. I solved the slow loading problem by load a much smaller ebook file first before loading the really big one. It's always faster the second time around. In the video, the author mentioned that the loading was going to be extremely slow and then it surprised him when it loaded up in like a second. I suspect that the same thing is happening with the augen device. Files are loading a lot faster once you've loaded something else. So, the best thing to do is to keep a very small file handy and load it after every time you changed the battery or reset. After that file has been loaded, the device will load every other file much faster. Last edited by jblitereader; 07-18-2010 at 09:08 PM. |

OK after a few hours reading the book reader I have found that the bigger 7" screen is giveing me trouble in that it is easy to lost place where you are reading if my eye are distracted for some reason. The 7" screen has about 3 times more print on it and I am finding that the smaller 5" screen much easer to keep up with.
I also am finding that the white background is hard on my eyes after a few hours and the jbl greenish screen dont bother me in any way after many hours of reading. I find that the book reader weighs 12 ounces where as the jbl weighs 9 ounces. Thats only a 3 ounce difference but it seems much more after a few hours. Also and a real big also The battery compartment is so handy to hold on to that when I use the book reader I truly miss the batt compartment on the jbl. Now please keep in mind I am new to this e book thing and have been useing a palm tungsten t3 for years. The jbl was my first true e book reader so I am expermaninting it seems with different readers. so to summ up I think I am going to keep the jbl and bring back the book reader to K-MART tomorrow. All I seem to know for sure about is that for the last 3 days I have been reading the jbl for hours at a time every day and liked it. Of course when something new gets in my hands I like it at first then seem to see what I dont like about it. So I am sorry if I mislead anyone. |

Itucci, do you have an opinion regarding the speed with which the Augen loads? The same as the JBL, or slower, or faster?

When I turn off the jbl and turn it back on I go instantly back to where I was reading. On the book reader the off button dont turn it off so you have to go through a menu to exit the reader to turn off. Then when you turn it back on you have to go through the menu to get back to the chosen book you were reading and hit the book mark to get back to where you were reading. So jbl instant off and on and back where you were. Book menus to go though.

I agree with you that the jbl's screen is very comfortable to read. Last week, I read 4 books just by using the time I commute on the train to and from the city. I have other plans for the augen device, though. PS - "The book" is too awkward for me to say in a complete, grammatically correct sentence. I'm gonna keep calling it the augen device. |

So it's finally out. I was wondering whether it was ever going to appear.
If I remeber it is more then a reader. Doesn't it support other apps similar to the iPad or is it a dedicated reader? There wasn't much info on it. There was no manual to download like most other devices. John Last edited by jlg432; 07-21-2010 at 10:28 PM. |
