Question What's your workflow?

Hi all,

Currently I'm just replacing the cover in the metadata window with the highest resolution version I can find and will eventually get around to going through the books that have the cover twice and such.

I'm sure there's more I can do to get the best out of my books.

Just wondering what people have as a process after adding a book to calibre.Do you make any style adjustments, tweak covers etc.

I normalize all metadata, cleaning up titles and setting up series, deleting tags (all), filling a custom column with the original filename for Amazon books, and downloading a new cover IF the current cover is not, in fact, the cover (but is a stupid picture of a peguin, or other such nonsense).

Yes to all these and more

I also trim comments of the review 'fluff'. Synopses only please

add/modify series info (I use hierarchical grouping on some series.) Standardize the name when the publisher can't even do this and modify a series name when unrelated titles use the same series name

Trim redundent tags Fiction,Science Fiction,General I am a believer in the 'rule of 6'. No more than 6 items should be needed to classify a title (choose from a menu level)

I fix the metadata (title, series info, synopsis, cover if missing, where I purchased the book and when, which kindle to send it to etc). Then I check the book in calibre viewer and if need be (usually there is), fix it with the editor (paragraph and line spacing, indents, font size etc.) Lastly, I convert the book (if it's epub) and run the page count plugin.
That's my usual workload.

Penguin <-- This one. The world does have small mercies, you see.

(Just kidding. JSWolf is definitely better than them. It is hard not to...)
