time for my second reader

Hi, new to the forum

About a year ago I tried my luck with ereaders and I bought Bebook reader. I quickly fell in love with the ereader concept, however Bebook left a lot to be desired for. So now I am looking to buy a new ereader that will not have the same issues:

1. screen a bit small for my taste
2. very unreliable, sometimes it resets itself, does not remember bookmarks, tends not to read files at times (basically bad programming, I think) so I find myself scared to flip a page or take a look at another book without the possibility of everything getting stuck.
3. once broken it took almost 4 months for them to repair it

I have my eyes on Sony PRS-900, however when I read about ereaders about a year ago I understood that Sony ereaders let you upload only files from their online store. I have a lot of personally created .pdf , .epubs and so forth so I want to be sure that I could read whatever I load from my computer

Also, does Sony deliver to EU countries?

Any advice would be helpful, thank you in advance

Bebook was a 6" device, if you think the screen was a little bit small, then you should go for a larger screen device. Specially because you also mention the use of PDF files.

That reduces greatly your choices.

But from personal experience, I can say you can't go wrong with a Kindle DX.

I'll let somebody else talk about the Sony devices, as I'm totally unexperienced with them.

No, you can't get the Sony 900 without some extra work. The DX might be a good one, if you think that 6" is too small, but it won't read epub. And I've heard complaints that the PDF is not well implemented. The only larger screened device is from Irex. But that's also much more expensive.

One of the strength of Sony readers is that it let you to upload your own files without having to purchase from any online store. I have created many personal pdf. All you need is Calibre or Sony Reader Library to upload your own PDFs or EPUBs.

The Sony PRS-900 is a good and solid device. I never see it crashed before.

However, I recommend that you wait a bit to see what Sony will release next. Hopefully, it will be a 9.7" with Pearl E-ink display with the glare issue taking care of. Glare on PRS-900 is not that big a problem as compared to Sony Touch Edition. I would guess that with the new Pearl display it would be even less a problem than previous models.

Annotation and dictionary work great on both PRS-600 and PRS-900.
