Cover for my new Kindle

My Kindle is not here yet, so I'm using this time looking for a nice cover.
I found this 2 on Amazon Uk:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A1WZLYF2TJRQSB

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3B2IIMCE8WGLV

I almost decided for the brown one...

Your advice ?

I bet the first one is lighter. If you get that one you might want to get a silicone sleeve or a skin for it. The second one seems more substantial. BTW congrats on your purchase - one of the best investments I've made in a pleasure/dollar ratio.

Thanks Samurai, I can't wait for my K2 to arrive !
I think I'll go for the second, as you said it's more substantial and moreover I prefer the leather natural color to the "business man" look of the black one.

as a proud owner of a DX since 3-4 days, I'll suggest you this:
http://www.amazon.com/M-Edge-Latitud...sr=8-2-catcorr

I spent hours on the forums searching for the perfect one, and now I have it - this is it!
I mostly like the fact that it is not simply a cover - most of them dont keep the dust-dirt out: it is sealed, and well padded in case of fall.
And you choose the color too!

I've tested quite a few covers. For Kindle and for other readers like Sony or nook.
I found, that I personally don't like the "slip in" covers. And I don't like the covers either, which fix your reader with straps in the corners.
The "slip in" covers add bulk and never fit perfectly. There's always some space for dust, sometimes you even can put your fingernail between reader and case.
And the straps, in my opinion, just are distracting and not very "elegant".

So, if available for the respective reader, I always go for solutions like the ones from Sony: Fixing the reader at its spine to the cover. This way, you really get the "book feeling", add almost no bulk and the reader remains accessible, for example to press a reset button on the back, exchange the battery or something like that.
Covers like that are available (at least) for Sony readers, Kindles, nook, iRex 800:
http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-...s=digital-text

For Kindle 2, there's another very nice solution: I've got a polycarbonat "full body armor shell". It doesn't cover the display, but it's perfect protection for example against dropping the reader from the sofa.

the first one is very like the medge. that was my second cover. they are REALLY good covers, good fit, high quality.
people are probably getting sick of this, but this is my favorite, they are really works of art

I had bought the clip for the K2 when it was a gift. when I got it back, I changed out to an Oberon with the corner straps. taking it out of the clips was a little difficult and I bent one. I've heard that having them clipped in has caused some breakage. YMMV

I have the M-Edge Latitude too, and I love it! I especially like the convenience of the pockets, and the zipper that goes almost all the way around so I can fold it over for reading. It's well-padded too for protection.

I've often drooled over the Oberon covers, but they look heavy. I know people say they're not, but I still haven't taken the plunge. And the Latitude covers all my needs right now (sorry for the lame pun).

they're not, they are stiff. but it is that kind of stiffness that you know that you are going to work out of it, and it is going to become uniquely yours like a new saddle or a new pair of chaps

Thanks for your advices guys. I'm impressed by the M-edge Latitude. Unfortunately if I'd order it from M-Edge I'd be charged 20$ for shipping. I'll look for some european seller.

Sorry, but I don't like the Oberon covers. I understand they are sturdy and well-crafted, but I find them a bit kitsch (sorry, personal opinion, no offense intended).

Sorry, I disagree about the weight. The Oberon was my first cover. After three months, I gave it away for a number of reasons--weight being the biggest factor. Interestingly, the person I gave it to didn't know why I was giving it up. Within a month, she too started complaining about how heavy it was.

The Oberon I had came within one ounce of doubling the K2's weight. It also is one of the very heaviest covers on the market today. While that doesn't bother some people, it shouldn't be dismissed either.

VictoriaP, out of interest what cover do you own now for your Kindle, I was looking at the Oberon covers but the shipping costs to the UK are very expensive, they do look very nice though

I ordered the 2nd one just this weekend and now I'm only waiting for delivery. I liked the look of it, it offered decent protection and the price was right. If you're in no hurry then I'll write back to say what I think when it arrives.

Good choice.

I have M-edge Covers for my DX and my K2 they are both great.

If you really find a european reseller give us a hint, i really tried hard to find one and wasn't able to. In the end i had to order from m-edge and it was expensive and much important one of the worst delivery experiences in my live (it took them 3 weeks to deliver my 2nd cover, delivery status was a mess and not useful at all, mails were not answered in time and last but not least the local delivery service, GLS in germany, were so damn stupid to lay the parcel with the cover just in front of the door when no one was at home ).

But the covers are really great!
