Bunched Text
I Have a lit file but when i load it into book designer the text is bunched (by which i mean each line is only a few words long then it jumps to the next line) like the word take up the right side of the page
LIKE THIS The elderly lady-bee who helped the baby-bee Maya when she awoke to life and slipped from her cell was called Cassandra and commanded great respect in the hive. Those were exciting days. A rebellion had broken out in the nation of bees, which the queen was unable to suppress. Do i have to go through the whole lot and re-arrange it or it there a tool to sort it out. i converted it to an html and its worse the writing is really small and it takes up less space on the right. must be a tool to re-arranged the text Last edited by JSWolf; 09-04-2007 at 08:56 AM. Reason: edited to remove the illegal stuff |

If you look at the HTML you should be able to easily see why it's being displayed that way. Perhaps there are hard line breaks in it.

And, if there are hard line breaks then Stingo's macro sorts them out in no time. Just edit in word and run the macro.

I've seen PG books like that too though...or did I do something wrong. It's one of the reasons I don't like to download classics from PG but rather go to Manybooks.

PG books in text format always (or at least, virtually always) have a hard line break at the end of every line. There are many tools which will strip these out - eg Stingo's Word macro, Book Designer, txt2lrf, etc.

Bad formatting, well try a legal pdf and extract text, see what happens. Just yesterday or so, I saw a cc book released only in pdf that interested me (Winning Mars - by J. Stoddard - go and check see it's legal), I extracted the text and what I got was messy. Usually I use a very simple free tool, called E-Book Tidy, joins lines, removes blank lines, very, very useful. |

Does E-Book Tidy handle double line spaces to leave the single line space that is supposed to be there?

I cannot say what it does in detail, just that for quick reformatting of ocr'ed scans or extracted pdf's this is the best (I think overall BD is much better but complicated) You can get it for free from here: http://www.simtel.net/product.php%5B...t_page%5D76296 |
