i edited the metadata of a mobi changing the cover. in the calibre display it shows the new cover but when the mobi is displayed with mobireader, the internal viewer and on the kindle it shows the older cover.

You have to run a conversion to get the cover inserted into the book file.

when you convert there is also a box to check that says"keep cover from source file" this would be the cover that is downloaded with the book. Not necessarily the one that shows up. To find out what cover will show you need to highlight the format in edit metadata and then click on the brown book in the upper left corner. If nothing happens that will be the book cover that transfers when you convert.

yep i found that out, but converting it makes some changes that i don't want.

well, i just tried conversion (mobi to mobi) again and the anomalies i had the first time were not there this time. guess my problem's solved. thanks for the responses.
