You mentioned RSS. How did you convert the HTML- did you use a recipe or did you download the HTML to your disk, add it as a book and convert?

It might be worth opening up the ePub file (via the Calibre Tweak ePub feature) to look at the xhtml that made it into the epub file. It is possible that the text is there but something is affecting its display.

Or it's possible that <pre> is not valid in XHTML.

Use the inspect feature of the calibre viewer to see what the code in the epub file is.

Never noticed that Inspect option (or seen any mention of it)! Has it always been there? It looks as if it could be very useful.

Just do a search for inspect on the whats-new page and you will see when it was introduced. It's also mentioned in the whats new in 0.8 page.

@Manichean
I take this Tool: ![]() Unfortunately I only have (and use) the german version of calibre, so I do not know the name in english. @Kovidgoyal I'd installed Version 0.8.1, but still does not work. When I have a look at the ebup-data the part with the <pre>-node will still ignored in the epub-file Pity... |

What recipe are you using? It could be remotely possible that <pre>- tags are excluded.

And that recipe doesn't remove any tags. Did you have a look at the source code of the book to see if the missing text is there, but just isn't displayed?
