As a writer is it okay to post my books here?

Is it okay if I give and overview of my book here? Can I put a link to my book here also? I want to know I have read the agreement but I am unsure. A friend of mine got kicked off after he posted his book information on here twice, please help me out.

I do not think anybody was ever kicked off Mobileread for posting about his book.
We even have special threads for that.
There are many threads where authors discuss their books, there are quite a few authors that post link to their book here, or even post link to their freely download-able book, or perhaps a special code so we can download their books from Smashwords for free for limited time.

There are two things that will get you banned:

1. Extreme spamming: posting about your book over and over again, in multiple, unrelated threads.

2. Dishonesty about your affiliation with a book. Eg, saying "I've found this really great book, and I'd recommend that you read it" when you are the author or publisher of that book.

People are welcome to plug their books, but we require full disclosure about what their links with those books are.

Good to have your company, Romantic. Many folks shamelessly self-promote and plug their work here. It's welcome and a bundle of fun. Lots of us have discovered some good reading that way.

There are a few (probably unwritten) rules that seem to have become established, though: those that Harry mentions above, for instance, and largely using those sections of the site dedicated to members' books and promotion.

And I've never heard anyone complain when an author uses his or her book cover as an avatar and buying detail links or a website address as a signature.

I really hate to see this discouraged, because honestly, I get such a kick out of it. I really like it when the guy's user name is part of the title of the book "he really liked", or even better when his (three or four) initials are the same as the author's. My name is JRRT and I want to tell you about this hobbit book I really liked.

Simply to answer your question:

We ban anyone who does commercial spamming - and continues to keep on spamming MobileRead with their books - and who is not forthright in acknowledging affiliation with their site, while also pretending to be someone else. This type of behavior is less than honest and our readers are quick to spot this, and they and MobileRead will not put up with this kind of crap.

Harry, another Moderator here, also said it very nicely.
