Hi doxhadawg & welcome to MR - you seem to be waiting for the perfect device at the perfect price. Hope you are not holding your breath while you do.

My Dad is like that - looking, comparing and waiting and never getting the device he so wants. He waited so long for the perfect VCR that we just got him a DVD player when they came out. He complaints about it but is still happily using it. He never got that VCR btw.

Hi, back everyone, I am quite pleased at your enthusiasm. Notes on your responses: "budgetary consideration" have delayed my choice; yes, a good device on the market as well. I would like to use it principally for reading non-fiction, and as a language aid, substantial dictionaries, and as a travel resource. I am concerned about the technical side, such as "justification" etc. Das Ding an sich I like. I speak German 'cause I lived there 20 yrs and French 'cause it was the language of my childhood, although the latter is not so good for writing. Talk to y'all.
