Which Kindle cover is the best?

I just bought myself a Kindle DX. It doesn't come with the cover and I have seen some criticism of the Amazon covers, so I'm debating what is my best option here. I also like the TrendyDigital cover--I like simple and understated covers.

Does anyone know a better alternative?

Please note that the Amazon leather cover for the DX is not the same as the K2, which has been criticized by some (not me). The Amazon DX cover is really a good choice as it is minimal in size (sleek, not bulky) , lightweight and does hold the DX securely. Both sides of the cover contain hidden magnets that hold tightly to the body of the DX. The fastening system is very secure and there is no need to be concerned whatsoever. I also favor the interior over any others.

I have covers, both DX and K2, from several manufacturers and Amazon's, while not fancy, really fits the best IMHO. Simple and understated as you mentioned. 30 days to test drive - what can you lose?

I have gathered some information about Kindle cover and I think it will be useful for you. But generally there are three type of Kindle case - protection cover, sleeve, and skin case. Depends on what you like ;]

Wow, that's a pretty subjective question, picardo! However, we have two Kindles in our household (I have the DXi and my husband, the K2i), and neither of us uses the cover-type protection, as we both like to read our Kindles without covers on them. Instead, we have the M Edge Page Sleeves http://buymedge-px.rtrk.com/products/kindledx-page.psp; his is a smooth green one and mine is the pebbled purple leather shown here. We love them, and they provide great protection when we aren't actually reading — we put them right back in their sleeves — but don't create a lot of bulk if you want to put them in a bag or tote.

I keep my DX in a M-Edge Platform Jacket (I got the black genuine leather one): http://www.medgestore.com/products/k...x-platform.psp. It offers great protection. I haven't used the platform feature too many times, but I like that when I fold back the top flap (which folds back completely flush) it creates a perfectly uniform reading surface. I would imagine that with some book-style jackets (open left to right), when opened and folded back flushed would make the DX more propped up on the left side than the other... you know what I mean?

Only drawback I see to the M-Edge case is that it is rather heavy. This isn't a big deal to me as this shows how much protection you are getting from it. You can easily slide the DX out of the case if you are going to read for a long period of time, and then slide it back in when you are done. Also, the case comes with a busines card holder in the underside of the top flap. I was afraid that the edges of this holder were going to leave a mark on the screen of the DX so I removed it (took 5 minutes).

I use the Amazon Leather Case for my K2 and have been very happy with it overall.

I have the Patagonia cover. While it has been 100% servicable, were I to do it again, I would get the M-Edge. And this is only because I don't care for the side handles on the Patagonia.

Yup. I rarely come in here now - funny how the thing that a lot of people want for the kindle is folders for organisation, yet this forum has gone the exact opposite - no organisation.
