Will Buy and Ship Reader

My local Sony Style store has readers in stock. It's in RI so the price is the standard $349 plus 7% tax (~ $375).

I will be more than happy to pick one up and ship it to an eager purchaser. My only condition is that you must pay the shipping costs (and I will only ship with a signature service with insurance -- i.e. FedEx or Priority Mail with Signature).

I can take all major credit cards. I would require that you fax a photocopy of the front and back of the card with a signed "order" for the reader to my retail store. And I will ONLY ship to the billing address on record -- NO EXCEPTIONS. If the address you want it shipped to isn't where your bill goes, you can call your card company and temporarily add a "secondary address".

I am asking $45 for my time and packing/customs/credit-card services. (It's about an hour drive, and I have to pay card-not-present rates to process the credit card, which eats a good percentage).

The unit will be guaranteed not DOA and in full unopened retail packaging. Other than that - no refunds, you must deal with Sony Style yourself if you want to return it.

I'm certainly quite interested in getting my hands on a Reader one way or another, but I have to say that I, no offense, feel VERY uneasy handing over my complete credit card details including CVV over to a person I don't know on the internet.
If we could agree one an escrow service of your choice (I believe even Paypal does something like that) and you paying for the Reader yourself, I'd go for it. I think $45 is reasonable, and I'd pay for the Escrow as well.

But handing over the credit card details - nah. I don't quite see why that'd be necessary either.

If you're willing to pay for the Escrow service, that's just ducky with me.

I'm asking for the credit card information as listed above because I've been bitten before when I did this in the past and one person used a stolen card and the other just did a chargeback that it was unauthorized -- without the above information, I can't defend myself in a chargeback situation.

If it makes you more comfortable, PM me and I can provide you with further information on myself and my store as well as my contact information.

All the units I was able to get are tentatively spoken for.

Best of luck finding your Readers...

Ok - I'll be in the US myself in two weeks, and I'll try my luck at some Borders and Sony Style stores. And if not - oh well, money saved. Technology never gets more expensive over time

Oh, and the reason why I'm a bit weary about sharing my credit card information with someone on the Web just like that is precisely what you experienced, just the other way round. I got my money back from my credit card company for that dodgy Plasma screen order from Russia, but if I keep having them, someone will probably want to talk to me...

One reader has become available since the buyer was able to find one from someone local and avoid the shipping cost and pick it up in person.

The unit has the 2 year accidental damage protection on it, which I have confirmed is easily transferrable within the US to any party by calling the 800 number and saying you purchased it from me or received it as a gift.

So my original offer is once again valid, I will accept PayPal or send the unit COD provided we exchange some information with each other and we each feel comfortable we won't be scammed on the PayPal/COD.

I also have another option for someone interested to avoid paying out-of-pocket the extra cost I was asking. I won't post it since I have confirmed it is successful, but "the walls have ears" -- so PM me if you're interested.
