Background picture or even playing slideshow of background pic for ebooks as feature
Hi!
I don't know if this is already possible. I tweeted to Calibre's Twitter regarding this https://twitter.com/Calibreforum/sta...92156484325377 and was told to post the idea here and see where it leads. As I was reading the ebook version of this https://www.amazon.com/Power-Mindful...g+ellen+langer I read about distraction. It said that distraction may not be as bad as we traditionally thought of it, rather it's being attracted to something else while attending to something. To hopefully make sense of this, it said that one of the ways to improve attention and take advantage of distraction when it happens is that we vary the context in which attention-paying is happening, thus the idea of being able to put background pictures while reading ebooks via Calibre. Or even being able to play a slideshow of background pictures. The book also said that our minds naturally seek novelty in things we are trying to pay attention to. I hope this made sense. Please, I beg you, tell me what wasn't clear. As absurd as this idea is, I think it may be useful too. Looking forward to hearing from you guys! Thanks! By the way, you can read that attention thing in the book starting from chapter 2. |

Also, I forgot to say this very important thing. Background pictures might cause reading issues. I think a good solution is to have the blur background effect so the text is not obscured as how the Linux music player Clementine does it. Here's an example: http://imgur.com/a/NA0mq You can see the how to original album artwork looks like on the lower left and how it looks like when used as background on the playlist window.

Seems like that's it.
Anyway, I wanted to double check. I really anticipate where that idea goes.
