Lightbulb Differences between News and General Discussion
In my point of view, people need a certain guidance while browsing inside a subforum-rich site like MR. Thus, and since people have the inertia to write in the News section (as it is what they've been doing up to this point), it'd be good if you posted a sticky on each thread (both News and GD) in order to clarify with certain detail what comes where.

The difference is simple:

News = factual reports of things happening in the e-book world.

General Discussion = anything else.

Right... and also please report new non-news threads posted in News that really should go into General Discussion, What Should I buy or a device/software specific thread.

The only issue I have is where should device reviews go. Personally, I am leaning toward the device specific forums.

Is the thread description on the forum list not adequate? They could always be made a bit more descriptive perhaps.

How you ultimately handle it is up to higher powers. I just wanted to point out that the original concern did not appear to be addressed.

If you want my opinion, I would suggest you monitor them for a while to determine if more guidance is needed. If so, then add the sticky and see what happens.

Single device reviews should go in their forums; multi-device comparisons could go in General Discussions. (Or potentially, they could all go in Which One Should I Buy.)
