I would buy a refurb, but an open box is too risky in my eyes.

"These items have been tested for functionality,..." I guess that could me that they just turned it on to see if it boots?

I purchased Open box jetBook black for my friend some time ago and this unit came with all accessories and preloaded books on it.

But if you bought it from Newegg and based on the language Should these items exhibit a functional defect following their purchase, the buyer (not the manufacturer, distributor, or Newegg) assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repairs, unless otherwise required by law. It sounds like you have no warranty.

They don't have the price $115 any more... $129.99+$1.99 Std. Shipping so the diffeence is $35 now.
