Overboard Audiobooks on Sony

Our library does not support EBooks through Overboard, but they do have audio-books for checkout and download.

Fine says I - my PRS-600 supports audio - MP3 and AAC - lets give it a try.

Overboard refuses to transfer an audio-book, which is in WMA Audiobook format - to the PRS600. It says the device does not support the format.

Has anyone had any luck converting a DRM protected WMA Audiobook to something the Sony can play?

We won't get into the issues of listening to an audio-book on the device while reading a different EBook...

Thanks!

Robert

I haven't been able to find anything via google search :/

It is really annoying, to me at least, that a lot of the libraries that have ebooks on loan offer them mainly in the format of MP3 or WMA audiobook instead of them mainly being in epub, PDF, ect format. I mean, BOOK is not sound IMHO.

I'm with you on that. The library I presently use has more audiobooks (outdated WMA) than ebooks. There have been many, many times where I thought I found something of interest only to look closely and see it's only available on audio.

Sony readers do not support DRM-ed audio, so you would have to strip the DRM from WMA before converting.

I have had success in downloading these audio books to my mp3 player. Works really great. They go walking with me every day.

One thing I did find: I was going to buy a really large Ipod. They do NOT support the audio books format that Overboard uses. Hummmmmm I even looked to see if it was hack-able (is that a word) The bottom line, I bought another brand, not as big but also a lot less expensive.

Are you all talking about Overdrive? If so, then yes, iPod works perfectly with those audiobooks.
