Not me. I bought my Kindle for reading novels, and it's perfectly adequate for that task.
I need something else for my academic reading (PDFs, markup ability etc.), but wouldn't knock the Kindle for that as I didn't buy it for that purpose. |

I've been dissatisfied with the various e-reading devices I've owned.
The Franklin Ebookman was a good reader, but sucked the batteries and wasn't manufactured very well (page flipper broke early on)...but the convenience let me look past the problems for the $25 that was padi for it (bargain bin at Office Max I think). I've tried a Toshiba PDA (windows based), but find that whole platform frustrating, and the battery-life/loss of memory ruined things. I'd bought a few of the RCA 1200's (the colour ones, bigger screen), but found the weight a bit much for one-handed use, and the increased screen size wasn't that much use. They had colour, but the process of getting images on them etc, was still painful and I just didn't use them (nor did my family). The ebookwise device (RCA 1150?) is the best I've used. I like the screen, the backlight, and the battery life. I'd like it if it was useful for more than just text-based stuff and could scroll pdfs, etc...but I'm quite fine without those features for all the benefits. I've looked at the e-ink stuff, and like the weight and appreciate the clarity in daylight...but miss the backlight, and the extra cost hasn't made them worthwhile for me yet. The 'flicker' while changing pics drives me nuts. I'm waiting to see what comes out in the next months, hoping to add greater functionality (beyond that of a PDA), better screen (colour, smooth scrolling/page change), larger screen perhaps, and equivalent battery life. So yeah, I've been dissatisfied (nothing is perfect), but each step for me has seen more satisfaction, which far outweighs the downsides. |

I was happy with mine, until Sunday when Amazon folded like a house of cards in front of Macmillan.

I'm not either. There are some improvements I'd like to see (when will I get my stinking folders?), but would I not say I was in the least bit dissatisified with my ereader.

Not I. I've only had it for a little over two weeks but I love it. Sure there are some changes I'd love to see but for the most part I am quite satisfied.

I would class myself as “very satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with my device.
I don't think it is perfect but that isn't what the terms above mean. Cheers, PKFFW |

Love it, use it every day and as corny as it sounds I count it as one of my prized possessions.

I guess I'm in the dissatisfied group. No hate, but wouldn't claim satisfaction if there is a "somewhat dissatisfied" option.

Except them not selling them would satisfy me much, much more. Because Macmillan deserve to be smacked down for their money grab. |

It is a point of view thing with me. I love my kindle v1, but after playing with v2 I want to upgrade so I am technically "dissatisfied"...but I still love the Kindle1 so I really am fairly happy. I want to hold out for the next jump in technology before upgrading. It still feels like we are in the infancy of the ebook revolution technology-wise.

Don't think for a second that amazon isn't out for money too - I think they're taking a longer-term approach that benefits their own business model. It just happens to coincide more directly with what consumers want and notice (lower price).
Macmillan, like most US corporations, is legally obligated to maximize profit for shareholders, as I understand it. Morality and long-term don't come into it. Short-term profit is king these days, as much as it sickens many of us. |

Red-do this thread with a poll. See if we get 93% “somewhat satisfied” or better. I think that sounds about right. I don't know anyone "unhappy" with their E-ink e-reader (two 505's, one 600, one DX, and my 900). But it could have to do with the nature of the type of person who wants a proper e-reader.
