				Character Recognition for iLiad notes

Cool, they added a new product in the iRex store. Looks awful. Unfortunately not available for MacOS X :-( https://www.irexshop.com/product_inf...products_id/43 |

I think that looks pretty interesting. My experience with tablet pcs tells me that character recognition still has a way to go. The best alogorithms are impressive and useable, but can still be fussy to correct. Good to see more iLiad related content arriving in any case. (Though this isn't really a "pure" iLiad product - just software to analyse vector graphics.) |

It would be nice if it could interface with a spreadsheet, or have some kind of template or forms available. Price is a bit steep. |

Aehm...how can I download the evaluation version? If I put it into the shopping basket it will cost 0 Euro + 20 Euro shipping. Weird!

Did a google on it, got the program developer company. This link is to their demo product. It does not mention the iLiad as a compatible device. It is probably still being tailored to it. I guess you could try their demo anyway. Here's the link: MyScript Demo Download I guess you could also download the MyStylus program if you have an applicable PDA. On the windows program if you have a graphics tablet I guess you could see how well it works. Let us know how it goes. Last edited by firekat; 08-03-2006 at 02:07 PM. |

AAARGH. MyScript Notes. I've heard about it. Actually i have used it. For 10 days. Until i returned my Logitech IO2. I really, really hope they have improved the recognition algorithms during the last year. With my handwriting i scored a recognition rate of about 60% of the words. On the other hand: That's an demo from one of my fellow students who decided to buy it after having tried mine: http://pics.impic.org/misc/io2_praxistest.jpg Last edited by DHer; 08-03-2006 at 03:13 PM. |

I agree with DHer. While I kept my Logitech IO2, MyScript Notes did not even last 10 days. Granted, my handwriting is pretty terrible and a challenge for even a good OCR, but MyScript Notes scored about the same 60% that DHer saw. I would strongly advise to demo / test it before spending any money. -HBW |
