Kindle Kwandry: US Kindle in Canada

I bought an original DX last year, and have been loving it.

As a canadian, I was using a US Amazon account (with US address) with a canadian credit card.

Today when I logged in and wanted to buy "Mr. Shivers" I was required to enter a credit card again.

I'm wondering 2 things...

1) Now that the Kindle is officially available in Canada, will not allow me to enter a Canadian credit card to my US account?

2) If I want to go "legit" now, can I use the US Kindle with a Canadian Amazon account/credit card? (and use the USB download option to get my stuff)

Whoops. I remembered now that I did not use a Canadian credit card before. Instead, I was using Amazon Gift Cards.

So yesterday my gift card amount ran out. I was able today to get, apply, and use a new one... so I'm happily back to buying books.

But question #2 still remains: If I want to go "legit" now, can I use the US Kindle with a Canadian Amazon account/credit card? (and use the USB download option to get my stuff)

AFAIK, if you buy a book as a Canadian (location set as Canada), you will pay $2 (US) more, regardless of whether you use Whispernet or USB.

Sucks, I know.

Then again, maybe having a U.S. Kindle will allow you to save the two bucks by using USB. If so, I'm jealous! But I doubt it.
