I have a nook and...

I wasn't sure which thread would have been the best to put this so I created a new one.

Overall I've been happy with the nook since I got it. I'm not pleased with how the lending feature was implemented, and I'm probably going to be very frustrated if it's true that users only get 1 hour of BN access in stores. (This was the big selling point for me)

But I've still been happy.

Until now. Last night I was reading Furies of Calderon and I got a the last sentence on the page and it ended with a ','. So obviously the sentence should be finished on the next page. But wait! A new chapter started on the next page.

So I changed the font from medium to extra small and was able to read the last paragraph of the chapter but that should not happen.

In the previous two books I read there were a couple of places I felt like something was missing in the story but I wrote it off as possibly bad writing, but this shows me that it could have been the nook.

I could go back and reread everything in extra small font to make sure I didn't miss anything but I shouldn't have to.

I'm really unhappy now. I guess I should know better since I bought a first version of the nook.

That should absolutely not happen;

Have you contacted cs to see what they can do?

Good. Keep us updated.

I'll be interested in why that would happen.

I've been reading the nook in extra small font hoping that would be a workaround for the issue.

Nope, found two more places where there was text cut off. I had to reformat to a larger font for it to show up.

I'm at the point where I'd prefer to take the nook back but I was told it wasn't returnable after 14 days.

Is that with all e-books or only certain e-books. I haven't noticed this issue myself. Has anyone else? I typically use a medium font. Also, what firmware version are you running?

We need more info as others have stated. Where did you get the books from? What format? What firmware? Can you replicate the issue in the same spot every time?

From reading B&N's nook forums, it looks like this is a known issue with some books in the current (1.1.0/1.1.1) firmware and is expected to be fixed with the next release - which supposedly is coming out before the end of the month. Personally I haven't had any issues on the three books I've read so far (1 ePub I sideloaded, one ePub I bought from B&N, and one PDB I bought from B&N) on my nook, but it does seem to be a fairly widespread problem.
