PrintIt DA : print your screen image!

I just got a Linksys PSUS4 print server, and after setting up our Mac and two Windows systems, and writing a perl script that runs on my office Linux server to update its dynamic DNS entry every two hours, I thought to myself: Wouldn't it be nice to print things from my PDA?

So, here is PrintItDA. It prints an image of the current screen on a laser (or other) printer that is PCL (i.e., LaserJet) compatible and that is connected to the Internet using the RAW JetPrint protocol (port 9100) or using LPR/LPD (port 515).

It works great on my TX together with our Brother HL 1440 printer with the PSUS4 print server. May waste paper, crash, destroy, etc., other devices.

Eventually, I may support LPR/LPD printers, but I had some trouble with that.

Of course, you need a DA launcher. If you search 1src, you'll find a couple. I use myKbd (www.zlthemes.com/Programs.php) on my TX and simply add PrintIt to my Favorites list.

I recommend that the first time you run it, you only have one sheet of paper in the printer, because if something gets screwed up, it might just feed paper endlessly.

At the address prompt, enter your printer's IP address or host name for RAW, and queuename@address for LPR/LPD.
