sunrise limits pictures?

When processing bigger channels sunrise starts to show the message
"ImageIO Can't create cache file!"

This occurs even when there is plenty of space available as well as on the C-Drive (documents and settings) and on the drive where sunrise is installed.

When viewing the sunrise\temp directory, there are 21.846 files and 1,2 GB of free memory.
Is ist possible that there are son restrictions denying the parsing of more pictures?

after filling up this directory by parsing a big channel I even can't parse a small channel. After deleting both the cache and the temp directory Its possible again.

How can I bypass this limitation?

Another question: Does sunrise compress the pictures?
the same channel gets about three times as large with sunrise as ist gets with Plucker.
