Cool-er comparison from a newbie
So my uncle was visiting this past week and I showed off my Cool-er and my Pocketbook 360 to him.
He loved the Cool-er, he liked the color and the screen size and did not even mind the buttons. I like the buttons on the Pocketbook 360 better, it has a larger pair on the side for page turning. I prefer that over the wheel one. He felt that the 6inch screen was nice because he felt that it was similar to the paperback book size. He did not like the 5 inch screen at all, and said he couldn't imagine actually reading a book on a iphone or itouch. Funny enough he liked the Cool-er logo on the back and the saying "we make reading cool" (no accounting for taste there). He was impressed and agreed that if he got one that he would just want it to read books, not have all the bells and whistles (mp3 player, surf the web etc). He felt that the price on both devices was too high, though he thought that the $200 price point would be good. Anyway he said that if he had to make a choice he would definitely order a Cool-er, he thought in blue or red. So a comparison from someone who has not seen a e-ink device in person previously. Amy |

I only have the cool-er so i can't really offer a comparaison
Well my girlfriend was really against ebook but she went out of new books to read and borrowed it from me .. The pro : - The readability of the e-ink display, she found it was really easy to read. - The weight, easy to use only one hand to read while lying in bed. - The choice of books, ok some format might not be as well served but overall even only using the free books around there's probably more than most can read in a lifetime - The battery, it's really really good. The con : - Rendering is not always perfect (i usually convert everything to epub) - It's not a real book, but to be honnest she's saying that less often now and i've heard her telling her friends how good it was. I can only agree with the last part, it will never have the touch and feel of a real book and some features need to be added to be able to search more easily. I saw some good ideas from i can't remenber wich brand to type using the direction keys (a freaking keyboard on the bottom is not an option, kindle users might be the most agressive ones around but their device is ugly and there's nothing they can do about that). At some point this year i'll probably replace the Cool-er for a new one, specially if i can get one of my friend to bring me a cheap one back from China so i'll ask her to compare. |
