If it was me, I'd have bought you a 600 so you would be able to read all the same eBooks you have without any need to convert.

Congrats and welcome to the community!
Converting form Sony to Kindle is a pain, so going to epub is probably the answer - the next upgrade won't hurt so much. How are you enjoying the Kindle so far? Does it match up to the Sony? |

As long as you have Calibre and your old books aren't LRX, it's not a big deal. I'm going the other way putting some Mobi books on a 505. Maybe down the line you'll add the 300 to your ebook reader collection so you can still put a reder in your jeans pocket (yes I remember the picture)
![]() It will be fun to compare notes with you on the pros and cons of each device since I'm now playing with a K2 and 505. |

Hey thanks all.
The formats aren't a big deal most of my books format are scattered between PDF/MOBI/LIT/ePUB so I'm use to converting. The only thing I might miss is Sony's support for PDF... Some how I don't think the kindle will be as good. I only had two bought two LRX books and now they are in ePUB format thanks to Sony's new direction @kennyc Yeah I feel tainted but coming from a Sony device I consider it more of a lateral move ![]() @daffy that is one thing I'm going to miss, my biggest selling point on the 505 was the portability and the kindle is a little up big. But it has other features that make up for it. Since your interested I'll give my review after one week of using it. @fug right now it is a bit too early to tell I like to use a device for a week to really get a fill for the device. However I do have a first impression. For starters it is much bigger making it not so portable, it is very sleek. One thing I noticed is the keyboard while I love that feature it was not designed well, I think they went for looks over functionality. The keys are to spread out and low causing the device to wobble while typing., so I'll have to condition myself. I realy like the TTS compared to my PC it sounds much nicer. What I find funny is while the kindle is bigger the Sony is heavier. Right now it's to hard to tell which one I like better after a week of using the kindle I will have a better feel for the device Again thanks for the warm welcome everyone =X= Last edited by =X=; 12-28-2009 at 06:37 PM. |

Yep, they are very equivalent in my mind as well. The dictionary in the Kindle is nice. It is lighter. ![]() Keep us posted on your thoughts. Enjoy! |

I was shocked when I first held the 700, I didn't expect it to feel so heavy. BTW, I've ordered the same Platform Jacket for the 505 as I have for my K2. I hated that the stock cover didn't fold back on itself. I don't want to hold it like a book, I want to hold it like an ebook reader. Last edited by daffy4u; 12-29-2009 at 09:20 AM. Oh yes now I remember I have the light case on my 505 and that adds a considerable amount of weight.
