Books for my wife
My wife is interested in an e-reader for Christmas but can't find any books that she would read. She goes through a stack of romance (Mills + Boon) type books also some fantasy books (often with dragons in).

What e-books can I get that might appeal to her? Free would be good although I don't object to paying for quality. I have a reader myself and a stack of Project Gutenberg or similar out of copyright books but these are not to her taste. I would probably buy an ePub format reader. Based on my own experience pdf formats can be a pain to fit to page so I would rather stay away from that format.

Not an expert, but it was my impression that romance is a genre where there are a huge amount of titles available as ebooks. Which shops has she been looking at? It's definitely my impression there's lots of romance available?

MIlls & Boon do support eBooks in ePub. So a nice Sony Reader would do well to read them. http://www.millsandboon.co.uk/books/romance.htm

If your wife likes romance and fantasy books with dargons, there're a lot, but not free, I'm afraid (except the recent offer of AllRomance and OmniLit). BooksOnBoard includes all the new books with ePub (I go mainly to Fictionwise, because I have Gen3), so you can choose any reader with it: Opus, Sony 300 or 600.

I can certify you can find that kind of books (They're the books I mainly read), but difficult for free.

I would think that ebooks would be the ideal format for Harlequin Romance type books because they can be read with one hand...

Falbe's books are excellent choices although I don't recall any dragons in them (it has been a while since I read them). The first volume is free but the subsequent volumes can be bought as a package for a very reasonable price. Bob made a good recommendation.

Fictionwise and Smashwords both offer DRM-free ebooks that will probably fit your needs and at very reasonable prices. At Fictionwise you need to look for Multiformat books. The biggest problem I have with Fictionwise is the poor search capabilities. I have written to its customer service several times about it with suggestions, none of which have yet seen the light of day.

Available at Fictionwise are DRM-free fantasy ebooks by Richard Tuttle. He has several series, each building on a previous series as well as standing alone. You can find some more information here about his Sword of Heavens series. His books do include both romance and dragons, as well as fantasy, although the romance is not of the same intensity as one would find in a true romance novel; the romance is somewhat secondary to the plot.
