				Favorite Christmas music?

Do you have a favorite? Or is this a time for bah humbug harrumphing. I spend most of December humming 'Little Drummer Boy.' Not sure why, but it really makes me 'feel' christmassy. Of course, watching and listening to the group Celtic Woman singing 'O come all ye faithful' on Youtube does a lot too. Tis the season. I'm almost tempted to convert to Christianity just to give me more justification!! Stitchawl |

"Little Drummer Boy" is one of my guilty favorites, because I can't remotely pretend it's secular or non-Christian. (I love the animated Yakko-Wakko-&-Dot version.) I also like "The First Noel," but I've managed to shake off any interest in most of the others. I mostly like the modern songs--Jingle Bell Rock, Silver Bells, Sleigh Ride, and most of the songs about snow.

				It's a toss up

It's a toss up between Greg Lake's Father Christmas and this outstanding Melissa Etheridge cover of John Lennon's Happy XMas. |

I love Vince Guaraldi too. And John Waters' Christmas compilation, "A John Waters' Christmas", usually gets a lot of play on my ipod this time of year. Fat Daddy: I Wish You A Merry Christmas: Sleigh bells, Reindeer and Snow: Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer (by Tiny Tim): Little Mary Christmas: |

Thanks for that, Ben! I saw Charles Brown at the 1991 New Orleans Jazzfest. He was terrific! He didn't sing Merry Christmas, Baby, but he did sing Please Come Home for Christmas. I prefer Christmas songs that are about Jesus rather than Santa Claus. Along that line, one album I can recommend is The Kingston Trio's album called The Last Month of the Year. |
