Kindle international - which kindle?

hey every one

I currently own a sony prs 505 which i love, but i wouldent mind getting a second ereader and i crossed out the prs 600 due to the glare and price. I am from the UK and wondering which kindle do they ship? when i convert the currency, the kindle cost £155, which is a good price. but i wouldent want to get the old kindle.

thanks

There should be a link to the International kindle from the amazon.co.uk site. As far as I am aware, make sure you are on the UK amazon www then do a search for Kindle. It should come up with the International version which you then buy from the US site just as you would buy any item normally.

Not sure about the postage and also be aware that it will almost certainly incur a customs charge as well.

As Amazon's US web page says:
Quote:
Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)
Only the very latest version has "Global Wireless", and this is now the only version they sell as "new" (even in the US). There are used or refurbished "U.S. Wireless" Kindles available, which you don't want.

The large screen Kindle DX is currently US-only, but there will be an international version sometime next year.

If you're asking which model it is, it's the Kindle 2.

I would add a warning, though; if you're outside the US, the "mainstream" book selection is currently rather poor, certainly much poorer than is available with the Sony. This will hopefully improve if and when Amazon open a UK bookstore, but that's the way it is at present.

Yep, the limited book selection is a major drawback. If you are looking for specific books be prepared that more than half of the books you're after are not available outside of the US. Amazon will take care of this eventually, but don't expect small countries to be a priority.
