It would appear that there are two or three ways of doing this.
I presume, you want native Chinese character support built in. This is handled by adding the font set to the library. There are others on these boards who know more about this than I do. The other way is to use image scans of your eBook and have the output in PDF. The caveat to this is that you will have to watch your scaling or you will find yourself correcting the zoom on each page turn. I also wonder if sony plans to implement an international font set in the next rom release as this would make the reader more appealing on a broader scale. But correct me if I'm wrong, if the reader supports PDFs' could you not open your chinese ebook and output it to a standard PDF format ie. Print to PDF?? For example, a Russian ebook can be printed to PDF and opened by the reader with the characters unchanged. So I presume the same is true for any language(?) I could be wrong as I haven't tried this but it seems logical to say the least. Anyone? |

PDF should work. I have Armenian documents in pdf format, reader opens them just fine.
You can download pdf printer driver (google) and create pdf files from any document/software that has a "print" option. You need to setup the page in a way that it fits the reader nicely (small page size, close to zero margins, etc.). |

If you are talking about this....
Check LRF attached.
Font implement is not done yet in PRS-700. But, you can convert chinese TXT to LRF using Japanese made ChainLP program. Save your chinese txt to UTF-8 encoding, and convert it to LRF with ChainLP. ChainLP makes txt into image and convert it into LRF. Before binding it, you can edit it, like font, font size, margine, line size etc. You can find this program at http://no722.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/...inlp-v024.html |

One point which nobody's explicitly stated: yes, Chinese PDFs will work fine if correctly sized for the Reader's screen (120x90mm page size), but you must embed the appropriate fonts into the PDF file.

Normally a PDF creator will have options for font embedding.

Extracting to a SD card , Truely Power OFF your PRS-700, disconnect the USB cable , insert the SD card to your PRS-700 then power on it, the update will start auto , after update finished, press OPTION button and the PRS-700 will reboot again , take out of the SD card and now will support CJK font. The original post locates at http://www.hi-pda.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=467883. I have attached here. Last edited by shavian; 03-11-2009 at 03:35 AM. |
